Online poker pro Isildur1 recently lost more than $200k. Isildur1 is a legendary poker pro that draws in crowds when he plays online. The game took place at online poker room Full Tilt Poker. He dropped $225,000 in one day, which means that for the year he is down more than $320,000. For the sites over all history he is down more than two and a half million dollars. As a high stakes poker pro he plays multiple tables like HU PLO $25/$50 at which he played this week and lost $150K over 1,300 hands.

The Netherlands is finally set to dismantle its online gambling monopoly and open up its online poker market to foreign companies according to Dutch newspaper Telegraaf. Earlier this year a government commission recommended that online poker in the country be opened up to private operators, regulated and licensed. Currently only the Dutch lottery can offer online gambling but the government could raise up to €270 Million by auctioning off licences to operate online poker sites to offer services to Dutch citizens. The PokerStars EPT London charity event has shipped over £20,000 to Cancer Research UK. The tournament ran from October 2-4 at London’s Hilton Metropole Hotel. It had 646 entries, including re-buys, of the £120 buy-in. £10 of each buy-in was put aside to donate to cancer research. PokerStars players were also able to transfer funds directly to a special ‘cancerUK’ account to contribute. PokerStars matched all contributions, creating a pool of over £20,000 to be donated to Cancer Research UK, the UK’s leading cancer charity. Online poker players from the state of Washington logged onto PokerStars Thursday morning only to receive some unsettling news. Their business was no longer welcome. PokerStars, following the Washington Supreme Court’s ruling to uphold the state’s internet gaming prohibition, has decided to block all real money play from Washington residents. This news will undoubtedly come as a shock to many of the high stakes cash game and tournament players from the state, who rely on the biggest online site in the world for much of their income. The final day of the PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) provided the biggest prizes of the series, with nearly $7 million paid out to the Main Event final table alone. The winner was destined to log off their computer with over a third of that money, but first the field had to be whittled down from the surviving 271 players. All of the players were in the money and that undoubtedly led to some speedy play. After ten hours of play, the field had lost Team PokerStars Pro members Jason Mercier (181st), Johannes Strassmann (169th) and Chad Brown (71st). Jason “JP OSU” Potter had a shot at picking up his second bracelet of the series, but fell just short in 21st place.

Mike Sexton is in the running for a WPT title. Sexton has long been an announcer for the WPT. This may be the first time he wins one of the events. Known as the ambassador of poker, Sexton has done very well in many different poker events, but this is the first time he has gone so far. While the final table is not yet set at the WPT Borgata Poker Open, Sexton was in the top 20 of the chip stack players at the time of this writing.
