Earlier this week at the SKYCITY casino in Auckland, five Auckland Rugby players and five players from the New Zealand Warriors Rugby League team battled it out, not on the pitch of Dunedin, but on the poker table to raise some money for the very worthy Prostate Cancer Foundation of New Zealand. The SKYCITY Blue September Challenge of the Codes poker tournament was held at SKYCITY POKER in the SKYCITY Casino in Auckland with players and sponsors coming together. It was a fantastic opportunity to raise money for one of New Zealand’s most deserved charities.  In these situations it is always nice to give the sponsors a free plug.

The 2010 PCA has the potential to be the most lucrative edition yet.The 2010 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure will be the biggest one yet, according to the official schedule released Thursday. Over 50 events are scheduled to take place over the 10-day span of the 2010 PCA with a wide range of buy-ins and formats. The bad beat jackpot is triggered when a player loses a hand while holding at least four sevens – normally a case for a disappointing hand, but not when playing a bad beat jackpot table. Johannes Jorgensen flew higher than all his competitors at the PartyPoker in the Sky event this weekend. The 24-year old journalist from Copenhagen beat out 21 players to grab a $13,000 package to the PartyPoker.com World Open V in London this October. Poker Room Tourney Problems

Online poker room Cake Poker recently had to deal with dropping players from tournaments. The poker room’s players were having issues with disconnecting from multiple matches, and when the poker room investigated it turned out that there was in external cause which at some point went so far as to lock players out of their accounts. While the external issue was resolved there are still issues with tournaments. While a new software patch was released it did not correct the problem, and tournaments play was suspended until such time as the issue could be resolved.
